Who'dve thought I would only have lived to the ripe old age of 38 before I'd seen everything?
Damnit.

Bill Stout has prostate cancer.
This sucks ass through a rusty straw.
Even after a completely shitty couple of days, Satch can always make things better.
(thank you, Randi)

I know
lucy_anne will want to see this.
I hope there is a special level of Hell reserved for people who write computer viruses. If the motherfucker person was in this room right now, I would introduce him to Cheech Wizard's concept of "Goomph!".
I spend the better part of two days trying to nuke a virus/trojan/spyware/whateverthehellitwa
Then I figured I'd download AVG, which had been recommended by both friends and a local PC shop.
Ha.
It caused MORE problems. Not only would its Email scanner try connecting in much the same manner that the Baltimore Orioles try connecting with an outside slider (unsusccesfully and a great many times at that), it slowed the whole system way down and chewed up the Virtual Memory. Couldn't get the damned thing to close without shutting down the entire process via Task Manager, which showed it to be a resource hog. To make matters worse, Outlook Express then wouldn't connect to the POP server. After a chat with Earthlink tech support, even resetting the TCP/IP setting in a DOS shell didn't help. So I went back to my first instinct and just delted AVG entirely. Now, lo and behold, things actually work again.
I must be getting old, I pulled a muscle in my hip the other day. So far, I haven't broken out the Walker and resorted to watching Matlock just yet.
So how was your last couple of days?
Just random things that have entered my stream of consciousness over the last few days.
1) The font used for the logo on the back of a Sonata is the exact same font used for the 90's Batman Animated Series
2) I saw a lime green Volkwsagen at a gas station the other day. The color was pretty harsh, but the shape of the car (and especially the antennas with the rubber overmolding) reminded me a LOT of something Geoff Darrow would draw.
3) I miss my dog. When I was around 13 or so, we had a huge giant mutant Irish Setter named Murphy that stood well past my waist at his head, and weighed about 125 lbs and was strong as an ox. And very gentle with children.
4) I *knew* Spinach was bad.
5) Jeff Smith is going on a world tour to promote the new Bone color versions. I'd love to know what he has planned after his stint on Capt Marvel.
6) I'm really liking Scott McCloud's newest book, Making Comics. Hopefully I'll get to see one of his lectures on this current tour as well.
7) I am really far behind on Gaimanalia, especially the audio CDs. Had a very nice chat with a lady in a bookstore the other day that was buying American Gods. She'd never read any other Gaiman, but was keen on doing so. We hooked another one. ;-)
8) When the hell is Jasper Morello coming to the US on DVD?
9) Linda Medley's new issue of Castle Waitingis superb. I do miss the lack of a letters column and her essays.
10) I like Fall.
11) This list goes to eleven.
Doesn't it make you proud to reside in such a great country where Bin Laden is still at large, but By God we got Willie Nelson?

Hot damn!
I'm rather liking this tendency of my favorite artists to Bloginate. Can Kaluta be next?
Just in case you hadn't seen Irene Gallo's recent post yet, Charles Vess' blog is now up and running at http://www.greenmanpress.com/news/
And for Lucy Anne's question, it's Word Press.
This week isn't getting any better.
Harrumph.

I think my Inner 7 year old just had a field day. I don't want to wait until November to get a copy of this!
What a crappy weekend.
Where's the "Do Over" button?
Well the computer is fixed. Yeefrigginhaw.
I talked to Charles Vess yesterday. His website is in the process of being remade into a blog.
My home PC has a power failure, so my online access is going to be fairly limited until it gets fixed/replaced.

Mostly for the benefit of
mistressmousey but I suspect a good many other folks would like to see this as well. I wonder what kind of candy bag you'd accessorize that getup with?

I suppose there may be a kernel of truth in there somewhere..........but............holy crap, Erik. I hope you don't take yourself seriously. There's a good reason I didn't talk to you in Charlotte. As you said in your own words, "Nobody likes a dick."
